General

What is Ride Kerala?

Ride Kerala is an app that connects riders with independent auto-rickshaw drivers nearby. Riders book with the Ride Kerala app, and drivers take rides with the RK Captain app. It is run by XQ Tech Solutions, Palakkad.

Where does Ride Kerala work?

In Palakkad, Kerala, in the areas shown in the app. The areas we serve may change over time.

Is Ride Kerala a taxi or transport company?

No. Ride Kerala is software for drivers. Drivers are independent: they own or run their autos, hold their own licences and permits, and provide the ride themselves. The ride is an arrangement between the rider and the driver. Our Terms of Use explain this in full. Read the Terms of Use.

Which phones can use the apps?

Android phones. Both apps are free on Google Play: Ride Kerala for riders and RK Captain for drivers.

Do the apps cost anything?

The apps are free to download. Riders pay the fare shown in the app directly to the driver. Drivers pay a flat software fee for each ride from their prepaid wallet, by the plan they choose (per ride or a day pass) — never a share of the fare.

Who runs Ride Kerala?

XQ Tech Solutions, a sole proprietorship of Ashok Kumar G, Nattukal, Kozhinjampara, Palakkad, Kerala 678554, India.

Call an auto

What is “Call an auto”?

A simple way to get an auto without booking: see the autos near you, nearest and free ones first, and call a driver from your phone. Use it in the Ride Kerala app, or here on ridekerala.in on any phone — including iPhone.

Do I need to sign in?

Yes, with your Google account, once on each phone. It keeps drivers’ phone numbers safe from misuse.

Why do you need my location?

To show the autos nearest to you. Your live location is required: without it we can’t show the list, and we never ask you to type a place.

Does the call cost anything?

Ride Kerala charges riders nothing. The call is a normal phone call from your own phone plan, and you pay the driver the union meter fare for the ride.

Does the driver see my number?

Yes — it is a normal phone call, so the driver sees your number, as with any call.

What happens after the call?

We ask “Did you get the auto?”. If the driver is busy or doesn’t answer, we show you the next auto. If the auto is coming, we show its number so you can check it before you get in.

Booking a ride

How do I book an auto?

Check your pickup on the map and tap “Where do you want to go?” to choose your drop. You then see the nearby drivers with their fares. Choose one and tap Book. The driver accepts and calls you to confirm.

Can I choose my driver?

Yes. Each nearby driver is listed with their rating, vehicle number, distance and fare, and you pick the one you want.

Why can't I see any drivers?

There may be no driver online near you right now, or you may be outside the area we serve. Please try again in a few minutes. We can't promise that a driver will always be available.

What is the OTP?

A 4-digit code shown in your app while your driver is coming. Show it to the driver in person when you get in. The trip starts only after the driver enters it. Never read it out on the phone.

How do I cancel a ride?

Use Cancel on the ride screen. Cancelling is free while we are still finding or confirming your driver. Cancelling often or not showing up may lead to limits on your account, as explained in the app.

Can I book a ride for later?

Not yet. For now, rides are booked for right away.

Can I save my home and work?

Yes. Save Home, Work and other places from the home screen or from Profile → Saved Places. Then tap a saved place to book a ride there.

Fares and payment

How is the fare worked out?

From the fare card that applies to the driver, set with the local auto unions, and the distance. You see the fare before you book; tap ⓘ to see the full rate card. The distance includes the driver's drive to your pickup, as the rate card shows.

Can the final fare change?

The fare shown when you book is the fare for the ride. It changes only if you change the trip on the way, or tolls or parking apply — the driver must explain any extra.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver directly, by UPI or cash, at the end of the trip. Ride Kerala does not collect the fare and does not hold riders' money, so you don't need a card in the app.

The driver asked for more than the fare. What should I do?

Pay the fare shown in the app, plus any lawful extra charge the driver explains, such as a toll. If you disagree, report it: Profile → Ride history → the trip → Report an issue → “I was asked to pay more than the fare”. Payment disputes are between the rider and the driver, but you can report it and we will help where we can.

Where can I see my past rides?

Profile → Ride history lists your trips with the route, driver and fare.

Safety

Are the drivers checked?

Before a driver can take rides, our team checks the documents they upload: driving licence, vehicle registration certificate (RC), a photo of the vehicle and a selfie. This check covers those documents only. It is not a guarantee of a driver's conduct or background, or of the vehicle's condition.

What does the SOS button do?

During a ride, SOS sends an alert to Ride Kerala support with the ride details and your location, and gives you buttons to call 112 and support (riders can also call their emergency contact). SOS does not replace emergency services: in an emergency, call 112. We can't promise a response time, or that an alert gets through without mobile signal.

How do I share my trip with family?

Tap “Share trip details” on the ride screen to send the driver's name, vehicle number, pickup and drop on WhatsApp. To share your live location, use WhatsApp's own live location.

How do I add an emergency contact?

Go to Profile → Settings → Emergency contact. During a ride, SOS gives you a button to call them. We don't message them automatically.

How do I report a problem with a driver or a trip?

Go to Profile → Ride history, choose the trip and tap “Report an issue”. You can report a lost item, being asked to pay more than the fare, feeling unsafe, the driver contacting you after the trip, or something else. Reports can be sent within 7 days of the trip (30 days for safety reports). You can also call or WhatsApp support on +91 62354 55560.

Drivers: how do I report a problem with a rider?

Call or WhatsApp support on +91 62354 55560, or email [email protected]. In an emergency, use SOS or call 112.

What happens after I report something?

We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days. We may contact both sides and, where needed, limit or suspend an account. We can't promise a particular outcome.

I left something in the auto. What can I do?

Report it from Profile → Ride history → the trip → Report an issue → “I left something in the vehicle”, or call support. We will try to help you reach the driver, but we can't guarantee that the item will be found.

For drivers

How do I join as a driver?

Download RK Captain and sign up with Google or your WhatsApp number. Upload your driving licence (front and back), vehicle RC, a photo of your auto with the number plate visible, and a selfie. Our team reviews them, and once you are approved you can go online.

Who can join?

You must be at least 18, drive an auto-rickshaw, and hold a valid driving licence, registration certificate, permit, insurance, pollution certificate, fitness certificate and any other document the law requires. You must keep them valid while you drive with us.

Is there a joining fee?

No, joining is free. Approved drivers currently also get a welcome credit of ₹100 in their wallet. The welcome credit may change or end; the amount you get is shown in your wallet.

How long does approval take?

Our team reviews documents as soon as it can. You get a notification when you are approved, or if a document needs to be uploaded again.

How do I get paid?

Riders pay you directly, by UPI or cash, at the end of each trip. Ride Kerala does not collect or hold your fares.

How much can I earn?

It depends on how many rides you take, when you drive and the demand near you. Ride Kerala does not guarantee any number of rides or any level of income.

What is the driver wallet?

A prepaid wallet used only to pay the flat software fee for rides arranged through the app, by the plan you choose, at the amounts shown in the app before they apply. You top it up through Razorpay, and you may need a minimum balance to get ride requests. It is not a bank account and can't be used to pay anyone else. Wallet credits are not refundable, also when you close your account.

Do I have to accept every ride request?

No. You choose when to go online and which requests to accept. If you miss many requests in a row, the app may set you offline, as explained in the app.

Why does RK Captain need my location all the time?

While you are online or on a trip, we use your location to send you nearby ride requests and to show your rider where you are. If you allow “All the time”, this keeps working when the app is in the background or closed. We don't collect your location while you are offline, and a notification is shown the whole time you are online.

Can I cancel a ride after accepting it?

Yes, from the ride screen. Some cancellations count against you. At the pickup, the app shows when you can cancel without a strike, for example after waiting and calling the rider.

What rules must I follow?

Follow traffic rules, the Motor Vehicles Act and your permit conditions. Charge only the fare shown in the app, plus any lawful extra charge you explain to the rider. Keep riders' phone numbers and trip details private, and make sure the person driving is the person on the account.
